Thomas “Malik” Tillman Scholarship

  • Thomas “Malik” Tillman lived a life of service to others. He was passionate about celebrating African and African American cultures, documenting, and preserving African Americans’ historical legacies in Greater Charlotte, and educating the African American youth about history and culture. He was both an Africana Studies (B.A.) and History (M.A.) alum of UNC Charlotte.
  • The scholarship was created in his honor and will support students who demonstrate academic excellence and community engagement. All junior and senior Africana Studies majors and minors with a 3.5 GPA who have completed at least one community service or community engagement project are eligible.
  • The first awards will be given during the 2022-2023 academic year.
